When you join The United Methodist Church, you pledge to support it with
prayers, presence, gifts, and service. The Stewardship committee
has recently taking up the effort to remind us of those commitments.
Stewardship is often associated with finances, but we are stewards of the
church in several areas. |
Prayers:
This is perhaps the easiest
thing to do, but it may also be the one we forget about the most.
We need to remember to pray for our church, our pastor, our leaders, |
 |
our workers, our members that come to church,
and maybe most importantly our members that don't attend church. |
|
Presence:
We pledge our presence.
Now, that doesn't mean we have to be at every service and meeting.
But attending the worship and fellowship events important in 3 ways.
It's important for God's sake; we are here today to worship God and to
praise him for all he does for us, and the best way for us to do that is
in a communal setting. It's important for us individually, to help
us with our own personal faith journey. And it's important to the
other church members. Your presence here helps the rest of us in
the church family. |
Gifts:
Gifts are the part of the pledge
that refers to financial offerings. One of the most common reasons
that people give for not attending church is that they say the church is
always asking for money. But just think about the church facilities
and ministries that are maintained. In today's world, ministry often
takes money. There's no way around it. |
Service:
In our church, there are so
many areas of service that there is a role for everyone to use the spiritual
gifts, or talents, that God has given them. And make no mistake about
it, we all have gifts. Our congregation is like a puzzle with 880 pieces.
Each piece is different, yet each piece is vital to make up the complete
picture.
If you need help in identifying
your gifts, check out the Spiritual Gifts resources HERE. |
