PASTOR’S MESSAGE
"Everybody’s Happy”
There is an old preacher’s story about making everybody
in the church happy. A preacher announces that he or she is leaving
a church: “Some were happy when I came, some are happy now that I am leaving,
so now everybody is happy.” |
I’m heading to Annual Conference after the
covered dish luncheon this Sunday. At the end of Conference my appointment
will be fixed. The Bishop will assign me to this church for at least
another year. I know that this will make some of our congregation
happy and some of our congregation unhappy. As long as there are
more happy people than unhappy people we will continue to move ahead in
our mission and ministry in this congregation.
I am pleased to be coming back for another year.
I think that we are about to enter into a new era for our church.
Guests will be coming to check out the renovated sanctuary. Folks
who have been displaced during the renovation will come back. We
will have three different Sunday morning worship opportunities from which
to choose.
I have made it a practice at the beginning of each reappointment
to try to right wrongs I have done. Wrongs I know about I have already
attempted to right. There are other offences of which I am unaware.
All I can do in these instances is suggest the following–If I have offended
you in some way, forgive me. If it is a wrong which can be righted,
drop me a line or give me a call. For the good of your faith life,
and this community of faith, let us resolve to pull in the
same direction this Conference year.
