PASTOR’S MESSAGE
"Fast Fast”
With the coming of Ash Wednesday, we are now in the season of Lent.  One of the different things we will be doing this Lent will be changing the time of our midweek service.  Instead of meeting during an evening time, we will meet during the day.  On Wednesdays during Lent we will feature a Wednesday service at 12:15 PM.  This communion service is designed to take place during the noon hour and should have you back at work by 1:00 PM.
A couple of weeks ago I went to a retreat called “Faith and Fasting.”  This event held at the Conference Center will be presented to all clergy under appointment in our state.  The workshop not only presented the Wesleyan model for fasting but encouraged us to fast as well.
John Wesley fasted for a week.  He would not eat after the evening meal on Thursday until high tea at 3:30 PM on Friday.  At the Conference Center we fasted for the same amount of time and even ended the fast with a Louisiana version of high tea.  Cucumber finger sandwiches are very tasty after skipping a couple of meals.
Perhaps you might even consider fasting on Wednesdays
during Lent, with or without high tea.  During this time pray for your church, pastor and leaders.  We are starting some new programs to reach out into our community–pray that God will lead and guide us.
I am so pleased to be sharing another Lenten season with you.  May God bless our ministry together.
                                                                       Peace!  Barry

BRING YOUR FAVORITE DISH THIS SUNDAY!   A lot of BIG CHANGES  will be taking place in our Church starting this Sunday, March 5th.  In all the excitement, don’t forget about our Monthly  Family Covered Dish Dinner which will take place this Sunday, after the 11:00 AM worship service in the Activity Building.
AHHH, you say that you attend the 8:30 service?  NO PROBLEM!   If you attend the 8:30 service, you have plenty of time to go home and prepare a dish and return. If you don’t feel like cooking, that’s okay! You might want to pick up  some Fried Chicken (ALWAYS a favorite dish with young and old alike).
Our monthly family dinners are great opportunities to enjoy good food,  fellowship with Church family you don’t see every day, and enjoy the background music. COME! ENJOY!

PLEASE NOTE NEW LENTEN SERVICE TIME!
In order to accommodate and encourage as many people as possible to attend, Rev. Barry will hold Lenten services this year at 12:15 PM.  Perhaps it would be convenient for you to come by on your lunch hour instead of coming out later in the afternoon.  Lenten Services will follow this schedule: March 8th, March 15th, March 22nd, March 29th, and April 5th at 12:15 PM.  On April 13th, Holy Thursday service will be at 6:30 PM.  On April 14th, Good Friday service will be at 12:15 PM.  Services will be held  in the Fellowship Hall.
