PASTOR’S MESSAGE
"Gonna Want More!”
Louisiana has had its share of colorful politicians over the years.  One of the most colorful was Huey P. Long.  Huey and I share a birthday and a gift for storytelling.  (I will leave it to you to decide if we share any other traits.)  In the 1930's  Long was interested in modernizing the state.  A major interest was paving roads and building bridges.  Often he would pave the road right through the middle of a town.  Even roads in small towns were paved.  Then the paved road would be extended for a mile or so out of the town.  Someone asked Governor Long about all these roads.  They were random roads which didn’t connect together.  “Why are you building all these roads?” someone asked.
“Because if you give people a taste of something, they are gonna want more!” Long replied.
We returned to our worship space for one event–a wedding–and won’t be back in it again until the first Sunday in July (Good Lord and subcontractors willing!)  A return to our worship space for this event gave us just a little taste of what it is going to be like in our renovated sanctuary and I, for one, am ready for more.
I hope that you have seen Steven Wilson’s drawings of the new stained glass.  The eight windows which will be in the sanctuary–Old Testament themes on one side/New Testament themes on the other–are on display.  Steven is a wonderful stained glass artist and has created windows which are incredible.  Check and see if I’m in my office when you come to look at the drawings and I’ll be happy to explain some of the symbolism in them.
By the way, we also have new chairs in the Fellowship Hall which are a lot more comfortable for the rest of our sojourn there.  I hope to see you this Sunday!
                                                                        Peace!  Barry
