PASTOR’S MESSAGE
"Youth News”
Phyliss Martin has resigned as our youth director.  She had decided to go to work somewhere else–not for another church.  We will miss her and know that she will be an effective employee.  When you see Phyliss wish her well in this new venture.
This means that the Staff Parish Relations Committee will be looking for a new youth person.  This can be a stress-filled time.  We will need to look for the best person for the position.  Right now we do not have any idea who that person will be.  I suggested to the youth this past Sunday that we begin to pray for the person whomever it may be.  God will lead us if we pray for God to guide us.
This open position on the church staff means a couple of things.  Until we find the right person, we will need help!  If you are asked to help out in the youth group–please say “yes”.  We will need help with programs, activities and meals on Sunday afternoons.  We will also need people who are interested in our youth to help on Sunday afternoons.
The youth group will be taking a few weeks off as summer vacations wind down.  We will pick up again on August 13 at 5:00PM in the Activities Building.  In the mean time:
* Pray for your church.   * Pray for our youth.
* Pray for leadership.     * Pray about your involvement.
* Pray that God will lead us in new and exciting directions!
                                                                       Peace!  Barry

A PRECIOUS KEEPSAKE  OF THE MARBLE ALTAR!
Some of the pieces of the precious marble altar that stood in our sanctuary for fifty years have been made into paper weights, and/or, shelf or desk decor.  There are many different sizes and shapes, which  have been cut and fashioned by Frank Porter. Only a few are left.   These items will be for sale in the Church Office.   The money collected will go to the Grand Piano Fund.  Enjoy a piece of religious history from our Sanctuary!

REMNANTS OF THE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS
The carefully removed stained glass from our church windows is now ready for those interested in acquiring a piece.  Donations are asked ranging from $2.50 up to $50.00.  The small broken scraps of glass are free with a donation of a prayer for our church.  All proceeds will go toward the Building Fund.  Please be generous.  Susie Pierron, a local stained glass artist, can be contacted by individuals to design and construct memorial pieces if so desired.
BE ADVISED for health (lead) and safety (glass) reasons everyone should use CAUTION when viewing and picking up the glass!  All remaining glass is kept at the Old Parsonage.  A small box to carry home the glass, gloves, and enclosed shoes are recommended.  Small children should be CLOSELY monitored or left with a sitter.  If you were  unable to attend the viewing last Sunday between 12:30 and 3:30PM, another day in the future will be set aside or arrangements with the committee may be possible.                             -Vicki Aycock, Chairperson
