PASTOR’S MESSAGE
"Borrowed Drums”
It is good to see so many familiar faces returning to church now that the sanctuary is substantially complete.  There are some things which need to be completed, but none which would evict us from our worship space again.
Our middle worship service features contemporary music where a band plays each week.  There is a fair amount of instrument set up before, and taking apart after, this service.  So far this has gone pretty well.  The band members rush in after the 8:30AM service and break it all down before the 11:00AM service.  We owe a big “THANK YOU!” to the band for their dedication to this service!
Ever since we started a contemporary worship service, we have used someone else’s drum set.  This makes it hard for drummers to practice at home.  Once the drum set is at the church it is easier to leave it at the church instead of packing it up and hauling it home each week.  This really isn’t very fair to our drummers.
We have an opportunity to buy an excellent used drum kit.  It is a bit smaller than the one currently being used and would be a real asset to the church and the band.  Won’t you help us out?  I believe that there are some of you reading this who believes in our outreach with a contemporary worship service, and might be able to give an extra gift for this drum set.  Please label your gift “Drums” and we will see to it that the money it is designated for this purpose.  If an excess to the amount needed for the drums comes in, we will put it in the Grand Piano Fund.
Isn’t it wonderful to be in a church with such a diversity of worship expressions?                                      Peace!  Barry

OLD CHAIRS!  FREE CHAIRS!
Remember our old trusty wooden chairs that we have used for so many years?  They have been replaced and have been removed from  the Fellowship Hall to Sunday School rooms and  to the old Parsonage. We still have some FREE chairs that members might like to take as a keepsake of our church history.
Please be aware that some of these chairs might need to be reglued.  Are you interested?  Simply contact the office at 868-7787, or call David West at 232-7756 during church hours.

THANK YOU FOR TREASURING MEMORIES!
Thanks to everyone who purchased a souvenir of the marble altar.  Our beautiful marble altar had to be removed in the renovation, but it certainly did not go to waste.  Thanks to Frank and Pat  Porter for working with the remnants  and turning them into some beautiful keepsakes of the past in the life of our church family. Donations toward this project went  toward the Grand Piano Fund and totaled approximately $2,019!

STAINED-GLASS WINDOW PROJECT IS COMPLETE!
While the rest of us may have been cooling off in air-conditioned buildings, we had a busy crew of devoted members working in the HEAT to lovingly and carefully haul the remnants of the old stained glass from the sanctuary into the old parsonage.  Then there was sorting, removing the red crosses that could be saved, distributing, etc., HOURS of hard work for dedicated volunteers!  We APPRECIATE and THANK each and every one of the volunteers!  It was a BIG JOB!
THANKS to all who donated money for their piece of the glass.  Approximately $812 was raised for the Building Fund.

PARSONAGE FURNITURE FOR SALE!
We may have something you need! We need to finish clearing out the old parsonage!  There is a Dining Room set (table and six chairs) for sale for an estimated $600 and a Bedroom set (2 twin beds and a dresser) for an estimated  $400.  Interested?  Call 868-7787 or contact David West at church!
