PASTOR’S MESSAGE
"Growing”
I follow the Revised Common Lectionary when picking the texts for each Sunday.  There are a few reasons I like the discipline of following the lectionary.  It keeps us in sync with the Christian year and it also puts us in dialogue with other Christians.  A local study group of clergy that I am in is taking the summer off, but since we all follow the lectionary when we gather we have a common text to work on.  It gives a diverse group something in common around which we can begin a discussion.
The lectionary is divided up into a three year cycle so a part of getting ready for Sunday is also looking back.  It is interesting to look back at old sermons to see what was done 3, 5, 9 and more years ago.  Looking back at these sermons is informative because there are so few that I would ever use again.  Maybe a chunk or two is recyclable but for the most part I have grown beyond where I was three years before.
I believe that the Christian faith ought to be dynamic!  We ought to grow in our faith.  Where we were a few years ago ought not to be where we are now or where we will be in the future.  Our faith life starts when we believe.  Our faith life should not end when we believe.  We ought to learn and grow and develop and mature as people of faith.
Are you growing in your faith?  Come worship with us this Sunday.  Let’s learn how we can grow up in Christ.
                                                                       Peace!  Barry

NEW CHAIRS!  OLD CHAIRS!  FREE CHAIRS!

The Trustees Committee has recommended we offer these chairs FREE to interested church members.  Please be aware that some of these chairs might need to be re-glued.  Are you interested?  Simply contact the church office at 868-7787, or call David West at 232-7756 during church hours.
